Director of Production

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION
We are a growing firm who specializes in the design and development of retail environments, store fixtures and point of purchase displays. We are seeking top talent who thrives in a creative and fast-paced culture servicing many of the leading global retail brands. Specifically, we have a full-time opening for a Director of Production.

The Director of Production (DoP) combines an understanding of engineering, design, materials, and manufacturing processes to drive a project from design intent thru production and execution. This position will provide strategic oversight and leadership to all Project Managers ensuring each project is completed on time and on budget to exceed client expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates with sales and design to translate rendered concepts into prototypes and final production thru detailed engineering drawings. Ensures that final designs meet the clients’ form, functionality, budget requirements and yield a product with excellent quality and cost effective manufacturability.

  • Lead, manage, evaluate, develop and support the production department. Assure the production team has the resources, processes, systems, and skills to satisfy both internal and external suppliers and customers. 
      
  • Lead Production teams to continuously improve team performance metrics.

  • Provide estimating, manufacturing, design and engineering guidance as needed to resolve issues and implement value engineering ideas to reduce costs without jeopardizing quality.

  • Collaborate with design to provide clear and consistent drawings and details to allow for proficient manufacturing.  

  • Review and guide engineering to complete drawings to ensure design intent is maintained and ensure that designs, when executed will meet client field performance requirements.

  • Vendor management: Continually develop and evaluate both Domestic and Asian vendor’s partnerships to ensure superior estimating, pricing, and delivery. Onboarding and review of new vendors that are in-line with Quarter20’s standards for excellence.

  • Oversee transportation and logistics services for store fixture rollouts within the retail industry. Ranging from complex rollouts of sensitive fixture deliveries (including truckloads of fixtures) to millwork for new store openings.

  • Provide production updates to both Sales and Design.

  • Bi-yearly review of employees under the DoP’s supervision.

  • Perform other related work as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 10-20 years in product development related to retail marketing and merchandising programs of varying complexity.  

  • Must have an understanding of various manufacturing products and methods.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or engineering form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Process orientation; demonstrated ability to develop repeatable processes or improve existing processes in and out of product development.

Project management skills:  
  • Will have demonstrated the ability to push projects over the finish line with sound planning and persistent execution

  • Will understand how to align resources, seek the input of key stakeholders, and manage others to achieve desired results.

  • Open and collaborative style: Must be comfortable working in an environment where ideas are shared and challenged.

  • Energy and enthusiasm: Must find the work "fun" and enjoy being accountable.

  • Provide positive change-management voice within product development and cross-functionally regarding client priorities and directives. 

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
